Reward: After FA Cup glory on Saturday, Wenger is expected to pen a new deal
Arsene Wenger will sign a new three-year contract in the next 72 hours.
It is understood the new £8million-a-year deal has already been agreed and Arsenal plan to announce it this week.
MirrorSport revealed on April 23 that Wenger had finally decided to sign - and that he will get a transfer kitty to strengthen the squad this summer.
But the FA Cup success has made it a lot easier for them to announce with fans happy that they have reached the top four and won their first trophy in nine years.
The Arsenal board have always wanted the Frenchman to stay and will back him with big cash to build the squad for a new title challenge next season.
They want a stellar name striker, holding midfielder and will also want replacements for Bacary Sagna - a target for both Manchester clubs - and Lukasz Fabianski who may have played their last games for the club at Wembley.
Thomas Vermaelen could also go despite lifting the FA Cup. The Gunners are keen on Karim Benzema and Loic Remy while they want either Lars Bender and Morgan Schneiderlin to bolster the midfield.
Wenger confirmed that he will sign his deal before he flies to Brazil to be a pundit for French TV station TF1.
When asked whether it will be done soon, Wenger added: “Yes, because I will go to Brazil on June 10. It will be done before then.”
But it will be announced even before that as Arsenal’s hierarchy have got the deal in place - and it would have been signed even if they had lost the final.
Wenger had at one point considered just a two year deal but clearly both sides believe he can bring a new era of success which will also take him up to 21 years in charge.
